Before you choose

Choosing interior window shades.

What is the difference between light-filtering and room-darkening shades?

Light-filtering fabrics soften daylight. Room-darkening fabrics reduce more light, but gaps around the shade can still admit light. We’ll discuss fabric, mounting and side gaps around your actual windows.

Can shades provide privacy at night?

It depends on the fabric. Solar and sheer fabrics that preserve a daytime view may reveal the room when indoor lights are on at night. If nighttime privacy matters, discuss a more opaque fabric or a layered treatment.

Can I use motorized shades on large or high windows?

Motorized operation can make hard-to-reach shades easier to use. Product size limits, power access and control compatibility must be checked for each opening. Explore motorized shades and controls.
